Charles Viner was born in England in 1839. He immigrated to the United States in 1858, and settled in Westfield, Massachusetts, where he worked for the organ building firm, Johnson & Son. In 1888, he established his own business in Buffalo, New York, Charles Viner & Son, in partnership with his son Charles B. Viner. Charles Viner died in Buffalo on January 5, 1919, but the firm continued to manufacture organs under the leadership of his son until about 1930. The firm was the successor to...
